HOW DOES THE WORKSHOP WORK?
Paige is now offering Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced workshops in her studio in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Most workshops are over two weekend days, some requiring three days. Workshop fees include all prep work, all materials and supplies, Paige’s instruction as well as varnish work. Once the varnish is dry and cured (about 2 weeks) Paige will ship the finished work to you, included in the fee. You will be working in her studio, situated beneath the beautiful Cape Elizabeth lighthouse. Paige will provide coffee/tea/muffins in the morning and a full lunch at midday. If you are traveling from away, Paige can offer suggestions for places to stay. Contact Paige (CONTACT) if you are interested in any of the workshops.
BEGINNER FLOORCLOTH - “PLAYGROUND” - MARCH 9 & 10, 2019
This 2x3’ floorcloth is a great way to jump in and explore different techniques. You will be provided a template of blocks that you will draw out and tape. You do not have to follow Paige’s block dimensions - create your own! You will use different ways to apply the paint - freehand, stenciled, brush stokes and combed glazing - all techniques that Paige uses in her floorcloths. Paige has a good supply of acrylic paints and colors but if you have specific ones you want to use, bring them along.
Fee: $400 - deposit of $200 due by February 8
INTERMEDIATE FLOORCLOTH - “COMPASS ROSE” - APRIL 27 & 28, 2019
This 3x3’ square floorcloth incorporates the classic compass rose design used for navigation. The project will utilize a lot of tape (for the star) and some freehand on the red circles. There are some options on the border: the phases of the moon, stars or the Tolkein quote from Lord of the Rings: “Not all those who wander are lost”. The white background could also be a darker color with stars, using a lighter color for the border. See the options in other Compass Rose designs that Paige has done in her Floorcloths page: Gallery of Floorcloths.
Fee: $400 - deposit of $200 due by March 15
ADVANCED TABLE RUNNER - “BIRCHES” - MAY 18 & 19
This 19x65” table runner makes you feel like you are walking in a forest of birches. The technique is fairly simple, the shading and freehand a bit more sophisticated. It is quite powerful on a table, and will go with almost any decor. The dimensions of the runner are just a suggestion - you can tell Paige ahead of time what dimensions you would like. You will see more versions of this in her Floorcloths page: Gallery of Floorcloths.
Fee: $500 - deposit of $250 due by April 6
