I love to take client's ideas and color schemes to create a custom piece of artwork. These are often inspired by the client's own impressions, as well as any paint colors, wallpaper, fabrics or other design points being used. In the photo above, my client had seen me at a show and called me. It was his wife's birthday and he wanted to surprise her with something unique and hand-crafted. He sent me photos of his dining room rug and asked me to create some placemats that would compliment it. He was delighted with the final product.
Creating from someone else's thoughts is a wonderful challenge for me. Each design becomes a personal work of art and is durable enough to be a family heirloom. The idea of initiating a custom design project may seem an intimidating prospect. If the client needs suggestions to jump-start the project, I am very happy to offer ideas to inspire and guide us as a team. These are often some of the comments I get to begin a project: "My room has a nautical theme...", "My color scheme is...", "Here are a few magazine clippings I have saved...", "I love anything to do with horses...", "I have a very whimsical nature....". If you give me some ideas, I will give you mine as well, following up with preliminary sketches if needed. Any queries about custom orders can begin at my Contact page.
